Finnhamns Arkipelag AB - Utsikten, Sommargården, Stugbyn, & Sjölängorna

.Stora Jolpan
.Finnhamn, Uppland Sweden

Received from a 42 year old male traveler from Northern California on Tuesday, July 14, 2009:
"Finnhamn, Stockholm Archipelago, Sweden - I spent two nights here: one in June 2009, staying in Lycka 5; and one in July 2009, staying in Lycka 4. I came back because I loved it. I paid 570 Swedish crowns -- around $70 -- per night, including linens. A Lycka is a unit in a 2 or 3 unit detached cottage. Bathrooms and showers were communal, and located in the meters-away youth hostel. This at first seemed uncomfortably rustic, but quickly had me shedding my New World-softie skin. Finnhamn offers an accessible, genuine, Swedish summer holiday. It's a small island cluster east of Stockholm, easly reached in 2 hours on the Waxholmsbolaget ferry. Everywhere was water, grassy fields, pine forest, small wooden boat docks, and short rocky cliffs. The restaurant -- or "Krog" -- is casual and fantastic. I paid about 100 Swedish kroner for lunch, and 120 Swedish kroner for dinner. All were simply prepared, organic Swedish classics. Finnhamn certainly isn't perfect. Check in and out was slow, and the staff uses incongruously noisy ATV's to haul trash and luggage around. But I've never slept so well, or seen a more wholesome environment. Only the most precious and cynical won't get it."
