"Mara West, Masai Mara - This was one of the best places I stayed in during my Masai Mara safari. The owners were American and really understood what we were looking for: privacy, romance and adventure. The camp is new, the tents are amazing with wonderful views and private decks, running water, beautiful bedding and art. The lodge offers delicious cuisine and atmosphere.
The safari guide was well informed and worked hard to help us get all the photos we wanted. I'm not much of a photographer but the pictures I was able to get sure made me look like one.
Oh, make sure you fly down from Nairobi, the drive is long, hot and not worth the money you will save. The camp is a little drive from the airport but the view from the top is well worth it.
Some of the places we stayed at had tents so close together that we felt like we were in the tent with our neighbors but Mara West gave us all the privacy we had hoped for, it was the exclusive experience we'd always hoped for.
